Likely the song is hard to play for Anthony . Since , he was using and trying to tell the world that he was killing himself … John likely sense that deeply, being so connected to Anthony . Likely it’s the unspoken word in the band ….. John’s just easy to scapegoat for people … simply because he didn’t like the album . Nor did Anthony …

I never realized that although Anthony mumbled nonsense instead of saying mother fucker, he actually slipped in a "fuck" in the line "come fuck me where I lay." I wonder if the studio was so concerned with the mother fucker line that they didnt even notice the "fuck" in the bridge.

I saw this live on TV the night they did it. I was in college in the early 1990’s & used to watch Letterman every night back then. At that time, it was a running joke on the Letterman show that his studio was freezing because the management kept the air conditioning running too high. Guests would complain that they were cold & Letterman himself would make jokes about it in his nightly monologue. He’d say the studio air conditioning had only 2 settings, Blizzard and Off. Jokes of that nature. Anyway that’s why the RHCPs wore the winter coats for this appearance..

@@TheSoulBlossom Well, he manages to lay down a good vocal take on the studio albums. Now, do you honestly believe that being a lead singer is all about your live voice? What about charisma? What about stage presence? What about the song writing talents he brings to the band? Man, you don't get it AT ALL.

@@TheSoulBlossom i have no idea how ppl still dont get that that being rockstars is not about perfect singing. check out all the talent shows that run in tv for the last 30 years. u have milions of perfect singers there but all of them have 0 personality. thats why u never hear about them once the show edition is over. Anthony and his crappy voice is THE MAIN REASON why his band is most popular one.
